Session Host/Speaker(s)

Inspired by our Staff Advisory Group's 2018 book club book, Workplace Wellness that Works by Laura Putnam, we launched Feedback Huddles in Spring 2019. Feedback Huddles are conversations with staff from across the department to encourage open dialogue from diverse perspectives. Ideas from Feedback Huddles help guide future departmental decisions. This session will review our planning process, data collection, analysis, and the creation of an action plan to improve workplace wellness.

Highlights

  • Start a staff-led initiative that gets leadership approval
  • Build on existing data such as Employee Engagement Surveys
  • Review the Mission, Vision, and Core Values to align discussions with organizational goals
  • Encourage open discussion by designing in-person sessions that ensure no one attends with their supervisor or direct report
  • Utilize audience engagement tools to collect real-time responses and encourage participation from attendees who may not have been active in the past
  • Provide multiple avenues for participation such as in-person groups, an online survey, and one-on-one meetings
  • Collect submissions and transcripts of in‐person discussions into one document to identify actionable themes
  • Create an action plan that gets leadership approval
  • With leadership's guidance, identify groups within the department that are able to take the lead researching and proposing solutions for staff concerns
  • Share results with staff and establish a timeline for updates
