Sarvani Chadalapaka is the Director of Cyberinfrastructure and Research Technologies at the University of California, Merced. Her experience at UC Merced includes building and running innovative, large-scale cyberinfrastructure for academics and researchers, increasing campus-wide cluster’s CPU count by 382% in 3 years. Her strategic planning expertise includes driving campus cyberinfrastructure(CI) service provision, computational research data storage solution strategies, establishing cyberinfrastructure as a core facility of campus research operations. Ms Chadalapaka’s unique focus on reducing the barriers to using HPC, developing teaching, outreach and training initiatives enabled diverse computational, data-intensive research and teaching across disciplines, which resulted in a 1400% increase in UC Merced HPC users over 4 years. Ms Chadalapaka designed and implemented a world-wide mentoring program for early career HPC women - Women in HPC(WHPC) Mentoring Program to help them to achieve their full potential as HPC professionals, WHPC Mentoring Program matched 50+ mentees with mentors over 5 continents.
Ms. Chadalapaka is a speaker and a senior committee member for national and international conferences including SuperComputing (SC), Practice and Experience in Advanced Research Computing (PEARC), Internet2 Technology Exchange (I2 TechEx), Women in HPC (WHPC) Summit and knowledge sharing sessions including University of California Research IT Community(UC-RITC), Campus Research Computing Consortium(CaRCC). Ms Chadalapaka is a recipient of the Internet2 Inclusivity Initiative Award, UCCSC’s community award for Research IT and has received scholarships from Community Engagement and Enrichment(CEE)-Broadening Participation Program for travel support to PEARC.
Ms Chadalapaka holds a master’s degree in electrical engineering from the University of Texas-Arlington and a bachelor’s degree in electronics and communication engineering from India.
