If you have ever thought, "I’m interested in creating a more inclusive, diverse, and thriving workplace, but I’m not sure where to start”, you’re not alone. This session will examine the creation of Women in Technology at UCI (WiT UCI), UC Irvine’s first diversity affinity group aimed at connecting, advancing, and empowering the women in IT on campus. Experiences in developing and overseeing WiT UCI over the past year, as well as the value of addressing gender imbalances and promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion through coordinated and collaborative efforts, will be shared. Key takeaways and lessons learned will also be presented with the goal of providing insights on best practices of building similarly supportive organizations, opportunities, and environments that inspire change across the UC campuses.
