Reframing Biased Language within Information Technology

We would like to share the work that we are currently doing on diversity and inclusion efforts (UC wide). We also want to share how we formed this working group that was sponsored by the UC ITLC.

The working group strives to:

• Advise on terminology for the UC Information Technology Divisions in the space of DEI.
• Use inclusive practices to foster a sense of belonging among ITS staff, student employees, and interns and thereby positively impact engagement, collaboration, and innovation.
• Collaborate across the UC system on terminology best practices that intentionally build diversity into our processes and onboarding best practices that incorporate inclusivity.
