Sandeep Chandra is the Executive Director for Sherlock. Since joining SDSC in 2003, he has worked on different aspects of infrastructure deployment for high-end compute and data management, as a principal investigator and in other leadership roles across a wide range of cross-disciplinary initiatives. As the Executive Director of Sherlock, Sandeep provides the strategic vision, direction, management and implementation of concepts and methodologies for Sherlock's technology platforms including Cloud Computing and Big Data solutions. Sandeep brings strong knowledge of the healthcare ecosystem with a deep focus on compliance, including NIST, FISMA and HIPAA requirements. Sandeep has offered direct policy, business, operations, and technology advice to the leadership of federal, state and academic institutions for over 15 years. Previously, Sandeep served as the Co-Principal Investigator for the Tropical Ecology Assessment & Monitoring (TEAM) network initiative where he architected one of the first multidisciplinary IT platforms for global biodiversity and ecosystem service monitoring, which included information systems, mobile technology, environmental sensors, databases and analytics.
Sandeep holds an MS in Computer Science from North Carolina State University.
